The Sauk Valley College Foundation has been honored with the 2021 Rock Falls Shoulder to the Wheel Community Service Award. The Foundation, in partnership with generous donors and dedicated volunteers, works to realize its mission to support Sauk Valley Community College, its programs and, most importantly, its students.

The Foundation recently awarded $267,004 in scholarships and over $37,700 to support student clubs and projects. For those students who encounter obstacles that slow or halt academic progress, the Foundation serves as a bridge by providing much needed necessities like access to an on-campus food pantry, gas to get to campus or a job, and even help with one more month of rent. Addressing these critical needs helps students successfully navigate their way through both school and life. In addition, a dedicated army of volunteers and staff work to extend outreach efforts through participation and support of events throughout the Sauk Valley.

As part of its notable volunteer achievements, the Foundation board of directors are working with college and community leaders to develop and implement the SVCC Impact Program—a transformative initiative that will provide in-district students the opportunity to earn up to three years of tuition and fees at SVCC. This program will help boost work-force participation, instill a college mindset in the youth of the district, and promote the importance of community participation.
