Jordan Tiegs

SVCC Alumni, Class of 2007

Attending SVCC was some of the best years of my life.

Jordan graduated from Sauk Valley Community College in 2007 with an associate degree after being recruited to play baseball. His passion for the game continued to grow at SVCC and ultimately led to a professional career with the Texas Rangers. Jordan began his coaching career with the Rangers in 2019 as a pitching coach in the Minor League system. From 2022 to 2024, he served as Pitching Coordinator, overseeing minor league teams and pitching coaches. In 2025, he was promoted to bullpen coach and is set to become the Texas Rangers’ Pitching Coach in 2026.

What made you choose to attend Sauk Valley Community College?

Jordan was born and raised in Canada. He was recruited by Al Ready, SVCC Head Baseball Coach, to play
baseball. Jordan started SVCC in the fall of 2005 and graduated in 2007 with an Associate’s Degree.

What’s your favorite memory from your time at the college?

Jordan’s favorite memory was being one run away from going to the World Series his first season at SVCC. The
2005-2007 baseball team was very successful and won back-to-back Arrowhead Conference Championships.

What was your biggest takeaway from your time here?

Jordan made a lot of lifelong friendships that he still has to this day. His teammates still stay in touch and
get together when they can despite being spread-out all over the country. They were and still are a close-knit group.

How did your experience at Sauk Valley Community College prepare you for your career or next steps?

SVCC created opportunities that he wouldn’t have had otherwise. SVCC opened a lot of doors for him since he wasn’t
a big baseball recruit coming out of high school.

“Where I am at today isn’t possible without SVCC.”

Jordan was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds from SVCC, but didn’t sign. He instead went to the College of Charleston
for his Junior Year. Al Ready was hired at UINDY and Jordan and a few of his former SVCC teammates decided to transfer there to continue their baseball careers.

Jordan graduated from UINDY (University of Indianapolis) and played one year in the minor league before
returning to UINDY to coach and earn his MBA.

Coached at UINDY – 3 years; 2012 – 2014

Coached at Indiana State; 5 years 2015 – 2019

Started with the Texas Rangers 2019

What did you enjoy most about being part of the Sauk Valley Community College community?

Small town appeal. There aren’t a lot of distractions in the Sauk Valley like there are in bigger communities or
colleges. You become close with your team and create a culture that you want to be in.

What would you tell someone who’s considering attending Sauk Valley Community College?

You won’t regret it. Once you start school and get involved, you will meet new people.
